Apples through each spike of a fence just a few blocks from the epicenter of the 37th annual Apple Festival in downtown Erwin set the tone - and the scent - for those who competed in Saturday morning's four-mile race before walking to the activities.

Megan Jean and the KFB and Amythyst Kiah & Her Chest of Glass will perform at a masquerade party tonight at the Willow Tree Coffeehouse and Music Room in Johnson City. Tickets will be $10 at the door and the music starts at 9. Costumes are encouraged.
