In an effort to increase scoring, the NCAA has changed the way officials will call games. More fouls — likely many more fouls — will be called when the season gets underway this week.

A.J. Merriweather moved into East Tennessee State’s starting lineup for the first time Saturday, and he’ll likely be there awhile. The freshman cored 27 points, missing just one of his 13 shots, in the Bucs’ 119-83 exhibition victory over Mars Hill.

Former David Crockett and ETSU runner J Penny won the Atlanta Marathon in October, finishing in 2:39.04, almost 12 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor.

ETSU’s first basketball exhibition of the preseason didn't see much defense, there was plenty of scoring in the 118-83 victory over Milligan College. The Bucs are back on the court Saturday in another exhibition against a more athletic NCAA D2 team.
