UPDATE: Carter commission easily overrides mayor's budget veto

The Carter County Commission on Thurday easily overrode last week's veto by Mayor Leon Humphrey of the 2014-15 county budget. The vote to override the veto of the proposed $2.45 tax rate was 16-7. The 2013-14 tax rate was $2.33.

The Carter County Commission will meet in a special called session this morning to attempt to pass a budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year. The first step of the process will be to consider the veto of a Commission-approved budget by Mayor Leon Humphrey.
