Carter Budget Committee fails to hold public hearing

Although several citizens came to the Carter County Courthouse on Monday night to hear public discussion on the local government's proposed budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year, that hearing was not held.

The Elizabethton City Council will hold a public hearing and second and final reading Thursday on its plans to increase water rates by 9.6 percent this fiscal year. The increase was part of the city's budget, which was approved by council last month.
