Clyde Britt, ELIZABETHTON

Mr. Clyde S. Britt, 92, formerly of Johnson City (Carter County), passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
He was the son of the late Sinclair and Lola Davis Britt and was born in Wilkesboro, NC, although he lived most of his life in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Younce Britt; his second wife, Yuki Lyod Britt; and a son, Garry Britt.
Mr. Britt was the retired owner of Britt Trucking Company. He was an active farmer who loved farming, gardening, his cattle and his antique tractors.
He is survived by five daughters, Linda Whitehead, Elizabethton, Patricia Cathelyn and her husband, Jim, Johnson City, Maxine Olgin, El Paso, TX, Joyce Stophel and her husband, Ronnie, El Paso, TX, Alice McKeon and her husband, Sean, Duluth, GA; three sons, Joe Britt, Fall Branch, Fred Britt, Elizabethton, Dwight Britt, Johnson City; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, James Maurice Britt, Johnson City; a sister-in-law, Beulah Britt, Johnson City; and a daughter-in-law, Andrea Britt and her son, Garrett, with whom he made his home.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Britt will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2014, in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Bill Younce and Lynuel Younce officiating.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Noon in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Moore, Robert Whitehead, Hillard Hicks and Rickey Miller. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Carter County Humane Society, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN 37644; or to a charity of their choice.
