Helen Z. Sullins Whitson, ERWIN

Helen Z. Sullins Whitson, 87, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
Helen is a native of Spruce Pine, NC, and a daughter of the late John and Lydia Dayton Sullins. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Helen was a faithful member and loved her church very much.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, S.C. Whitson, in 1991; Daughter: Angela Whitson, in 1979; Brothers: Andrew Sullins and Jack Sullins’ Sisters: Betty Bailey Duggan, Margaret Grindstaff; and half sister, Eula Franklin.
Helen Whitson leaves behind to cherish her memories: Daughter: Shirley English and husband, Howard, of Erwin; Son: Tony Whitson and his wife, Janice, of Erwin; Six Grandchildren: Chad English, Sonya Ramsey, Angela Miller, Lori Kinsler, Michael Whitson and Lacy Whitson; Ten: Great-Grandchildren; Four Step-Great Grandchildren; Brother: Douglas Sullins, of Erwin; Sister: Verna Lee Alford, of Johnson City.
The family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Helen Whitson in a funeral service to be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2014, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Harold Lewis and Reverend Jeff Autrey will officiate.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday and continue until service time.
A committal service will follow to Evergreen Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Whitson, Dylan Edwards, Garry Whitson, Chad English, Koty English and K.C. English.
