Joan Martin Edwards Wakham, JOHNSON CITY

Joan Martin Edwards Wakham, 72, Johnson City, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Indianola, MS, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Hazel Martin Edwards. She was a graduate of Indianola High School in Mississippi. Joan attended Grace Fellowship Church in Johnson City, TN.
She was a loving mother and sister and enjoyed the small things in life. Joan was attentive and generous to others in need. She enjoyed her flower gardens, working with family photos and genealogy and managing and rehabilitating her real estate properties.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James D. Wakham; and her brother, Jack Edwards.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Becky Algee and husband, Bob, of Jonesborough, TN, and Debbie Wakham, of Newton, MS; one sister, Rebecca Edwards Brown and husband, Jack, of Hattiesburg, MS; and numerous cousins and special friends.
A Graveside Service will be held for Joan at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Indianola Cemetery, Indianola, MS.
For those who prefer, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in memory of Joan to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
