Daniel D. Weekley, ELLISTON, Va.

ELLISTON, Va. — Daniel D. Weekley, was born in Ohio, October 22, 1924, to William and Elsie Weekley and moved to Ewrin, Tennessee with his sisters, Marcella and Betty, and brother Jack.
He was a graduate from Ewrin High School and ETSU, where he played football. He married Eleanor Kovach, of Johnson City and was father to Rick Weekley (wife Pat) of Elliston, VA, Debra Nichols (Husband John) of Magnolia, TX, Pam Howard (Husband Stuart) of Ackworth, GA, and Terry Weekley (Wife Karen) of Concord, NC.
Living in Elizabethton, Tennessee, he became a football coach at Lee Edwards High School in Asheville, NC. Moving back to Tennessee in the late ’50s he went to work for Interstate Life Insurance. He transferred to Charlotte, NC, then to Richmond, VA, until he retired.
He and Eleanor spent the next 20 years traveling the country in their RV visiting family and friends till they settled in Tomball, TX. Their wishes were to have a service for them together and have their ashes buried in Johnson City next to Eleanor’s parents.
Besides his children he leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, siblings and a granddaughter, Amanda Horn. Dan and Eleanor’s memorial service will be held riverside at 224 Blevins, Johnson City on Friday, August 8, at 4 p.m. where we will celebrate their lives, share stories, food, and fellowship.
