Robert "Gene" Crawford, NAPLES, Fla.

Mr. Robert Eugene “Gene” Crawford, age 84, formerly of Kingsport, TN, and the Sullivan Gardens Community, passed away Friday June 20, 2014, in Naples, Florida.
Mr. Crawford was born on August 17, 1929, in Washington County, TN, the son of the late Robert Oscar and Ida Mae Archer Crawford. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mr. Crawford was employed with Eastman Kodak as a research lab technician. After retiring from Eastman, Mr. Crawford worked at Mountain Glen Golf Course and Eagle Creek Golf Club enjoying his love of golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a nephew, Mike Crawford.
He was married to the former Peggy Nell Bailey, who survives, and was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Mrs. Peggy B. Crawford; His brothers, Ray (Joyce) Crawford, Blaine (Betty) Crawford, Lee (Jenny) Crawford and Clyde (Wilma) Crawford; His sister, Hazel (Dean) Malone. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Crawford will be conducted on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 7 p.m. from the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Rhonda Hobbs officiating.
Burial will follow on Friday morning at 11 a.m. from the graveside of the East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Good Shepherd.
The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 5 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests that memorial contributions be made to Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, 3200 Glen Alpine Road, Kingsport, TN 37660; or to the Avow Hospice Care of Naples Florida, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, Fl. 34105.
Honorary pallbearers will include Dennis Lane, David Good, Lynn Roach, Gerald Cassell, Sam Foster, Tommy Horton, Gary Noblett and Allen Harmon.
