Calvin "Nick" Nicholson, ELIZABETHTON

Calvin “Nick” Nicholson, age 71, of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2014, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born in Hampton to the late Ollie A. and Myrtle Street Nicholson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carson and Carl Nicholson; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Nicholson.
Mr. Nicholson worked as an avionics mechanic for Delta Airlines and was an avid world traveler, snow skier, running and boating. He played basketball in high school and was involved in the NAISF and Delta Ski Club and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Mr. Nicholson was a United States Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Candice Nicholson; daughters, Carrie Harris and husband, Bryan, of Jackson, GA Cathy Shoemaker and husband, Bob, of Treasure Island, FL, and Candice Ziminov-Artus, of Limerick, PA; grandchildren, Jason, Blake, Nadia and Nikolai; 3 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Blanche Nicholson, of Elizabethton; and a great aunt, Mary Street, of Johnson City. Several cousins also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Nicholson will be conducted at 12:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2014, in the Chapel of Peace in Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Ben Dugger officiating.
The graveside service and interment will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie McCloud, Jerry Bowers, Glen McQueen, Bob Campbell, Kevin Lipford, Von Luther and J. Harold Ray. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Murray and Woody Ornduff. Military rites will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the service on Monday.
