Jonesborough, TN — Elva Byrd Barnett, 100 years of age, of the Telford Community, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 in the Four Oaks Health Care in Jonesborough.
Formerly of the Pigeon Roost Community, Green Mtn, NC, she was the daughter of the late U.L. and Pansy Tipton Byrd and the wife of the late Floyd Barnett. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Pearl Thomas, Myra Thomas and Lela Byrd; brothers: Park, R.C., Cecil and Howard Byrd; and special daughter in law, Patsy Barnett. She was a member of the Lower Pigeon Roost Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Bob Edwards and wife Ruth of Green Mtn, NC, Herman Barnett of Charlotte, Jim Barnett and wife Kay of Churchill, TN, Don Barnett and wife Tonya of Telford, and Randall Barnett and wife Debra of Bakersville; 9 grandchildren, 13 great and 6 great great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Ronald Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Bennett Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to the service hour.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at the Four Oaks Healthcare and Caris Hospice (especially Nonie and Linda) for their special love and care.
