Dolly Arp Lyons, age 85, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
A native of Elizabethton, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Morgan Arp and Daisy McGuire Arp. She was a member of Princeton Freewill Baptist Church, and was a housekeeper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred “Tommy” Lyons, in 2009; three sisters, Ruth Lichtensine, Verna Lee Dodson and Volina Norris; three brothers, Roy Arp, Earl Arp and Wilford Arp.
Survivors include two brothers, Willie Arp and wife, Betty, Cincinnati, OH, Ray Arp, and wife, Rosa Lee, of Kingsport, TN; Several nieces and nephews. A special friend and caretaker, B. Keeva Ann Humphrey, who loved and cherished her very much.
The funeral service for Mrs. Lyons, will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 30, 2014, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Dallas Gregg officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Greene, Vestal Holland, David Humphrey, Joey Humphrey, Dewey Lichtensine and Theodore Lichtensine. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Princeton Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN.
