Jean Wilder, KINGSPORT

Mrs. Jean T. Wilder of Kingsport, passed away Friday evening May 23, 2014.
Mrs. Wilder was born in Starke, Florida, the daughter the late Josephine L. Farmer Matheny. She moved to Morristown, TN when she was 15 years old and lived her adult life in Kingsport, TN.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, A.C. & Billy Matheny and one sister, Marvella Moore.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who spend countless hours enjoying jigsaw puzzles, watching birds, growing flowers, spending time at McCoy’s Salvage and supporting her grandbabies in the Dobyns-Bennett High School Band. She was a member of the First Church of God and was married for over 47 years to Jesse Lee Wilder.
Mrs. Wilder formed many relationships with many people and one very special family she became known at their “American Mom” to Vicki & Brian Dam and their son Frank all who were from Vietnam.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Mr. Jesse Lee Wilder. Her children, Chuck (Teresa) Turner, Cydeena Turner, Debbie (Dicky) Templeton, and Leigh (Clairon) Peters. One brother, George Flavous Matheny of Columbia, SC. Her grandchildren, Cyerra Turner, Victoria Peters, and Avery Peters. A number of nieces and nephews along with very close and special family friend, Rosia Scott also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilder will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 8 p.m. from the chapel of the East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Ron McEwen officiating. Burial will follow on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Garden of Memories of East Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:30 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
The following friends and family will serve as active pallbearers, Jordan McPherson, Clairon and Avery Peters, Charles Isley, Rosia Scott, Doug Wright. Honorary pallbearers include, Bob Wright and Dicky Templeton.
