Jimmy “J.B.” Rogers, age 68, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Jimmy was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Cecil and Irene Lloyd Rogers. He was retired with Clinchfield Railroad / CSX Railroad as a Maintenance of Way employee. He was a former Legislative representative for the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Workers. Jimmy was an avid wood cutter and was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Kenny Rogers, Charles Rogers, Michael Rogers and Danny Rogers. Sister: Mary Lou Rogers.
Jimmy had left behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 43 years, Genevieve McInturff Rogers; Children: Regina Franklin, her husband David of Erwin, Crystal Decker, her husband Tim of Erwin, Jimmy Benjamin Rogers, Jr., his wife Jacenda of Erwin; Grandchildren: Tanesha White, her husband Eugene, Caleb Rogers, Brandon Barlow, his wife Nikki, Ciara Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Ariana Decker; Great-Grandchild: Faith Addison Barlow; Sister: Teresa Powers; Brother: Steven Rogers; Sis-in-law: Shirley Rogers; Several Nieces, Nephews, Aunt and Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.
The family request the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Jimmy “J.B.” Rogers in a funeral service at 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Roger Laws will be officiating. A Visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending please meet at Valley Funeral Home at 10:30 AM, on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
