Mrs. Betty Jane Garber, age 73, of Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at a local hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Sullivan County, TN, Mrs. Garber was born on July 3, 1940, the daughter of the late James Richard & Hazel Wilson Cunningham. She had lived most of her life in Kingsport and Sullivan County and attended the Fountain of Life Bible Church until ill health.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel V. Garber Jr., December 28, 2011.
Survivors include her children, Kevin and his wife, Angie Garber, Tracy Shipley and Debbie Arnold. Three brothers, Jerry and his wife, Lyndall Cunningham, Butch and his wife, Judy Cunningham, and Stacy and his wife, Carolyn Cunningham; One sister, Susie Cunningham Hall and husband, Alex; Five grandchildren, Candace and her husband, Justin Barger, Samuel Arnold, Randy Garber, Jessi Garber, Lura Shipley; Two great granddaughters, Gracie and Zoe Barger; along with a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Garber will be conducted on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 7 p.m. from the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
Burial will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Garden of Christus in East Lawn Memorial Park. Those desiring should assemble at the graveside by 1:45 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will include; Kevin Garber, Randy Garber, Sam Arnold, Mack Arnold, Justin Barger and Terry Salyers.
