Marvin Hampton, ERWIN

Marvin Donald Hampton, age 79, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014, in the Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC.
Marvin is a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late John Frank and Rosetta Bailey Hampton. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Maddox. Mr. Hampton was a tool and die maker. Following his retirement Marvin with wife Evelyn owned and operated their own pottery business and taught pottery painting classes. He was a member of the Erwin National Blue Ridge Pottery Club and Cash Pottery Club.
Mr. Hampton has left behind to cherish his memories: Wife: Evelyn Edwards Hampton of Erwin; Daughter: Karen Presnell and husband, Garry of Asheville, NC; Son: Donald Ray Hampton and wife, Kathy of Elizabethton, TN; Sisters: Evelyn Edwards of Erwin, Patty Norton of Unicoi, Sue Higgins of Erwin; Brothers: Jack Hampton of Erwin, Lewis Hampton of Erwin, Murrell Hampton of Erwin; Granddaughters: Whitney Keplinger and husband, Thomas of Erwin, Annaliza Anis and husband, Randy Joe of Vancover, WA; Great Granddaughter: Jenna Keplinger; Several Nieces and Nephews.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family of Marvin Hampton will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home followed by a committal service in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Rob Moor will officiate. The UCHS Jr. ROTC will provide military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions be made to the Marvin Hampton Memorial Fund c/o of Ninth Street Baptist Church, 310 Ninth Street, Erwin, TN 37650.
