Talmage Bryant, JONESBOROUGH

Talmage Bryant, age 87, 865 Mayberry Road, Jonesborough, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the Four Oaks Health Care Center.
He was a native of Yancey County, North Carolina, and had lived in Jonesborough for the past fifty-eight years. Mr. Bryant was a son of the late Marcus Avery Cornelius Bryant and Cora Belle Taylor Bryant. He was a self employed carpenter and plumber and had been a part time employee of the Veterans Administration, Mountain Home, for eight years. Mr. Bryant was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Jessie K. Bryant, in October 2009; a brother, Roy Bryant and one sister, Connie Hensley.
Mr. Bryant is survived by a son, Glen Bryant and wife, Brenda, and a daughter, Linda Raines all of Jonesborough; two sisters: Dollie Adkins of Mitchell County, North Carolina and Mae Randolph of South Carolina; five grandchildren: April Dawne Nicholson Bowlin and husband, Edgar of Kingsport, Christopher “Nick” Nicholson and wife, Lisa of Greenville, South Carolina, Charles Paul Talmage Hundley and wife, Twilla of Jonesborough and Ricky Cox and Chris Gage both of Jonesborough; eight great grandchildren, Christopher K. Nicholson of Hawaii, Brooke Little of Scottsdale, Arizona, Edgar Wallace Bowlin III of Kingsport, Luke McKinzie Bowlin of Kingsport, Nikki Wishon of Elizabethton, Jessie Faye Kathleen Hundley of Jonesborough and Corey and Jessica of Jonesborough; one great-great grandchild, Aiden. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Bryant will be held at 3:00 P. M. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jimmie Rodgers will officiate. Special music will be provided by grandchildren, Nick Nicholson and April Bowlin. Pallbearers will be the son, grandsons, great grandsons and a special friend, Jim Grindstaff.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of the son, Glen Bryant, 867 Mayberry Road, Jonesborough. Committal service will follow in the Mayberry Community Church Cemetery, Jonesborough.
