Ralph C. Conant, KINGSPORT

Ralph C. Conant, 88, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Conant was born on June 27, 1925, in Hawkins County, Tennessee, the son of the late Clint V. Conant and Bobbie Barton Conant.
Mr. Conant was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II, and retired from Eastman in 1986 with 39 years of service as a Foreman.
He was a member of the Sullivan Baptist Church and served as a deacon. Mr. Conant was a 62 year member of the Johnson Masonic Lodge #274 of Fall Branch and served as the Worshipful Master in 1959 and 1978.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Brown and Curtis Conant; and four sisters, Louise Davis, Johnetta Boyd, Ruby Clark and Ella Ruth Simmons.
Mr. Conant is survived by his wife of 63 years, Iris Patterson Conant; one daughter, Jane Murphy, of Johnson City; one grandson, Marc Murphy and fiancé, Pin-Chia Su, of Johnson City; four brothers, Ray Conant and wife, Mae, of Sparta, TN, Leo Conant and wife, Stella, of Church Hill, TN, Lloyd Conant and Bill Conant and wife, Deloris, both of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
A Masonic Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 28, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel rendered by the Johnson Masonic Lodge #274 of Fall Branch.
Funeral services for Mr. Ralph C. Conant will follow with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of the Good Shepherd of East Lawn Memorial Park with military honors to be rendered by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 a.m.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 28, 2014, in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Sullivan Baptist Church building fund, 4152 Maplewood Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
