Ramsey Pollard, ELIZABETHTON

Published April 22nd, 2014 10:20 pm

Ramsey Pollard, age 83, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, surrounded by his family, at Hillview Health Center.
Mr. Pollard was born in Fort Worth, Texas, but had been a resident of Elizabethton for the past 15 years; and was the son of the late William Ramsey and Della Pickle Pollard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great grandson, Mason Lux; and a sister, Imogene Cliett.
Mr. Pollard was a member of First Baptist Church in Elizabethton. He loved to travel and was very active in his church.
Ramsey Pollard was best known for his work in the fields of Public Relations and Travel. He hosted a nationally syndicated Sun Radio show, “Ramblin’ With Ramsey” which was heard by millions of people on more than 100 stations. Every weekend, Ramsey would visit a different destination, giving advice on where to stay and what to do and interviewing local personalities such as Dolly Parton, Walter Cronkite, Ben Vereen and Clint Black.
Prior to that, Pollard managed a publication titled “Welcome to the USA” which, among other things, featured his interviews with three different US Presidents. He enjoyed flying all over the world, going to glamorous places and eating the finest cuisine … but his favorite place was always with his family. Annual trips to the beach for the whole clan and gathering everyone at his home for Thanksgiving are only a few of the many times enjoyed together.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia “Pat” Price Pollard, of the home; three daughters, Kathy Lux and husband, Buddy, Woodbridge, VA, Sarah Moore and husband, Gary, Orlando, FL, and Ann Pollard, Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Laura Corombos and husband, Greg, Woodbridge, VA, Hank Lux, Savannah, GA, Clint Moore, Miami, FL, and Ramsey Keith Moore, Orlando, FL; one great granddaughter, Katie Grace Corombus, Woodbridge, VA; and two nieces, Arden Starnes, Black Mountain, NC, and Nancy Horton, Nashville, TN.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Pollard will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2014, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bob Polk and Rev. Brent Seals, officiating. Music will be under the direction of John Bunn.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday; or at the residence at anytime.
The graveside service will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Messengers Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hillview Health Center for all the love and care shown to Mr. Pollard during his illness.
