Joseph Miller, JOHNSON CITY

Joseph M. Miller, age 78, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Gray following a brief illness.
A lifelong native of Johnson City, he was a son of the late James Matison and Elsie Love Hampton Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of Knob Creek Church of the Brethren, and had worked for 18 years at Klopman Mills. Mr. Miller was a US Army veteran, serving during Korea and Vietnam wars.
He loved to go fishing and hunting. He was a person that was loved by everyone who knew him, and never met a stranger. He will be missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by three brothers and one great grandchild.
Survivors include four children, Penny Chatman, Johnson City, Betty Jo Dowling, Clinton, TN, Mildred “Millie” Queen, Jonesborough, TN, and Clifford Miller, Johnson City; Six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Alma Flaherty, Gray; two brothers, Allen Miller, Ohio, and Wayne Miller, Jonesborough. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Joseph Miller will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Chatman officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Boone Dam V.F.W.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at Washington County Memory Gardens following the funeral service. Active pallbearers will be Josh Queen, Brandon Miller, Clint Daniels, Bobby Daniels, Jr., Danny Chatman and David Styles.
