Gary Jeffers, JOHNSON CITY

Gary Wayne Jeffers, age 65, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A lifelong native of Johnson City, he was a son of the late Marvin Bright and Anna Lucille Showman Jeffers. Mr. Jeffers was a member of Westerly Heights Baptist Church. He retired in 1998 from Rainbow Bakery after working for 29 years. Mr. Jeffers loved Nascar, taking trips to Cades Cove and being outdoors in the fresh air. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jeffers was preceded in death by a nephew, Daryl Lynn Saults, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Grandparents, Benjamin and Florence Showman and Selma and Worley Jeffers.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Jeffers, Johnson City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Cash and husband Gabe, April Jeffers Helton and husband Michael, and Kelly Greene and husband Terry, all of Johnson City; granddaughters, Anna “Keawana” Greene, Jada Helton and fiancé Dustin; grandsons David and Jayce Helton and Daniel Greene, all of Johnson City; brother, Danny Jeffers, Bowmantown, TN; Sisters, Patsy Broyles, Barbara Sneyd, and Linda Jeffers, all of Telford; cousins, Karen Gatewood, Terry Moody, both of Kingsport, Kenneth Moody, North Carolina, and Ann Dill, Oak Ridge, TN.
Special Friends Richard Arnett, Darrell Dugger, Emily Crowder, Jewell and Eddie Canter, Darlene Arnett, and Jacqueline Dugger.
The funeral service for Mr. Jeffers will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woodward and Rev. Bill Brown officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 17 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Richard Arnett, Darrell Dugger, Mark Hamby, Dustin Carroll, Joshua Sneyd, David Saults, Michael Helton, Dustin Saults, and Chris Saults. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. April Lambert and Staff, Dr. Charles Famoyin and Staff, Dr. Melanie Davison, Dr. Jeff Schoondyke and staff, and Johnson City Family Medicine. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 1:15 P.M.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Johnson City Medical Center floor 2200 nurses, Andrew, Aaron, Mike, Lulu, and Holly; Floor 3300 nurses, Karen and Victoria; Johnson City Medical Center Respiratory Therapy, Colleen and Bobby; ICU 2700 Fred; Medical Center food services, Zakayla, Marlie, and Rachel.
