Michael Keesecker, ERWIN

Michael Vernon Keesecker, age 67, passed away Monday morning, April 7, 2014, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Keesecker was born September 10, 1946, and was a son of the late P.M. and Pauline Brummett Keesecker. He had resided with his family in Erwin for the past two years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Keesecker was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his country as a NATO courier. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Other than his parents, Mr. Keesecker was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Bogart, in 2013; two brothers: A.G. Keesecker, in 2013, Sammy Keesecker, 2011; and two nephews: Mark and Randy Keesecker.
He is survived by two sisters: Katrinka Quillen and husband, Prezzle, Kingsport; Irene Gray and husband, Jerome, Okeechobee, FL; five brothers: P.M. Keesecker Jr. and wife, Anita, Columbus, OH, Conrad Keesecker and wife, Margaret Lee, Newport News, VA, John Keesecker and wife, Ann, Steven Keesecker and Karl Keesecker and wife, Teresa, all of Erwin; one brother-in-law, Howard Bogart, of Erwin; one sister-in-law, Carol Keesecker, of Erwin; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service for Mr. Keesecker will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, in Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Bernie Jones will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. There will be a register present for those attending to sign at the graveside.
