Luna B. Phipps, 78, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John B. and Della Lucille Turbyfill Phipps. He was a retired Construction Worker. Mr. Phipps served in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jean Sneed Phipps, May 21, 1994.
Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Rickey & Tammy Phipps, Woodstock, Georgia; His Grandchildren; Dakoda Lynn Phipps, Rebecka Phipps Quinn, Sharon Harden, Mechelle Puckett, Amber Dawn Hyatt, and Joshua Moore. Also several cousins.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the Ensor Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Dakoda Phipps, Tim Peterson, Jerry Rumley, Bob Tipton, Ron Anderson and Drew Cave. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, Tn. 37644; or the Mountain States Hospice, 101 Med Tech Parkway, Suite 100, Johnson City, Tenn. 37604.
