Charles R. "Dick" Stanton, JOHNSON CITY

Charles R. “Dick” Stanton, age 75, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A lifelong native of Washington County, TN, he was a son of the late Samuel B. and Winnie Wolfe Stanton.
Mr. Stanton worked as a branch manager of Noland Company, Johnson City and Knoxville. After retiring from Noland, he worked several years as a salesman for Bolton Concrete Company.
Mr. Stanton was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Ted Beach Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Johnson City Kiwanis Club for 24 years, where he had served as Secretary/Treasurer, and was also a past president. He was designated a Hixson Fellow, and was awarded the Kiwanis International Foundation Tablet of Honor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanton was preceded in death by two brothers, Heiskell Stanton and Robert Stanton; and one sister, Mary Ellen Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Carter Stanton; son and daughter-in-law, David and Melanie Stanton; grandson, Austin Stanton; granddaughter, Audrey Stanton, all of Johnson City; sister, Wilma Hughes, Nashville; sister-in-law, Mary Smith and husband, Tom, Johnson City; nephew, Jason Smith and wife, Carolyn; nieces, Jane Padgett, Margaret Fulkerson, Diane Booher and Phyllis Scott; nephews, John Stanton and Bill Stanton.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Princeton Transitional Care and the Staff of the Johnson City Medical Center ICU, 7400 wing, and Hospice.
The funeral service for Mr. Stanton will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 28, 2014, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Grindstaff and Rev. Tim Tapp officiating.
The burial will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Bucky Peters, Charles Steagall, Jason Smith, Jeff Jones, Brad McKeehan, Tony Hughes, Ken Cutlip and John Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be, Tom Smith, Chuck Bowman and Gordon Bolton.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 27, from 5:30 until 8:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. Pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 AM Friday.
