Betty Jewell Scalf, age 64, 414 Rambling Road, Jonesborough, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 24, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 6, 1949, in Erwin and was a daughter of the late Vestal and Georgia Bell McNabb Jewell.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Scalf was a Wal-Mart associate at the Browns Mill location for approximately eleven years prior to her retirement in 2012.
She loved family, friends, and pets as well as all God’s nature and outdoor beauty. She also loved planting flowers and tending her garden.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Scalf was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Jewell; and one sister, Phyllis Tipton.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty five years, Tex Autry Scalf Sr.; three sons: Tex Autry Scalf Jr., Tony Scalf and wife, Karen, and Matthew Jewell, all of Jonesborough; special sister, Virginia “Lee” Jewell, of the home; two other sisters: Daisy Jewell, Burnsville, NC, and Carolyn Jewell, California; one grandson, Harlan Scalf; two granddaughters: Heather Scalf, Jonesborough, and Michelle Bowling, Chuckey; Numerous nieces and nephews; all her special friends and pets also survive.
Graveside service for Mrs. Scalf will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 1:45 p.m. at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery. Reverend Ron Fender will officiate. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
