KINGSPORT — Don Jasperse, age 85, left this world and entered into heaven after a short illness on March 7, 2014, at Indian Path Medical Center.
He was a native of Sheboygan Wisconsin. He grew up in Atlanta and served his country proudly as a United States Marine.
“Doc” Jasperse as he was affectionately called throughout his career, graduated from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. Don retired as a Pharmacist after a career serving his friends at the downtown Coles Drug store, Revco and CVS.
Don has lived in Kingsport since 1955. Don was an active member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church, where he served his Savior in many ways including as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and member of the church choir. He worked tirelessly to establish the Gray Missionary Baptist Church with a group of faithful Christians.
Don loved sailing his sailboat at Watauga Lake and being a kind and loving Husband and Father who was a great role model for his kids and grandkids to look up to.
The Family wants to THANK the Nurses, Doctors and Staff on the 5th floor of Indian Path Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care for their husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Alice Jasperse; sister, June Jasperse; and brother, Charles Jasperse.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Louise Woodby Jasperse, of Kingsport; and their sweet dog, Molly; one son, Ga. State Representative Rick Jasperse and his wife, Marcia, of Jasper, GA; one daughter, Tina Shell and her husband, Keith, of Surgoinsville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Wright, Mary Alice Jasperse and Bob Jasperse.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Frank Proffitt officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Dishner, Ted Salyer, Leo Conant, Bill Barnett, Houston Kilby, Mack Kilby, Justin Wright and James Trent.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Robinson Baptist Church.
