James David "Dave" Blankenship, ERWIN

James David “Dave” Blankenship, 58, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from the Center on Aging in Erwin.
He was a native of Erwin and the son of Carrie Wilson and the late Joe Blankenship.
Dave proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Unicoi.
Dave loved riding his motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Ed” Blankenship; and nephew, Michael Gassman Jr.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Treva Blankenship; his brother, Mike Blankenship; sisters, Linda Bittner, Debra and (Rob) Jenkins, Ruth and (Glenn) Rogers and Donna Wilson; three nieces and nephews; children, Perry Bucilli, Dawn Warwick, Shelly Bucilli, Rob and (Deanna) Gibbons, Jimmy and (Michelle) Bucilli, Andy and (Rachel) Paul, Brian and (Emily) Paul, Jason and (Jessica) Paul; fourteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Chakraborty, Nurse Patty, Nurse Carrie, his other hospice nurses, the staff at the Center on Aging for all the loving care they provided to Dave. Also a special thanks to Wayne and Harold McInturff for their work at the cemetery.
The family would like the honor of your presence at A Celebration of Life service for Dave on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 7:00 PM in the Sunrise chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services with Reverend Norman Loveless officiating.
The family will greet friends to share memories from 5:00 PM until the service hour.
Graveside and Committal services will be held in Barnett McInturff Cemetery, Unicoi, on Monday at 11:00 AM. Active pallbearers will be Rob Jenkins, Robbie Jenkins, Mike Blankenship, Bub Blankenship, Jason Paul, Daniel Honeycutt and Jim Jones. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday by 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
