Thurman "Junior" Sutherland, KINGSPORT

Thurman Kenneth “Junior” Sutherland, 71, Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Drake, Japan (1960-1963). He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1993 after 29 years of service.
Junior had a love for fishing, music, history, watching boxing, news and politics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Hester Sutherland; sister, Frances Collins; and three brothers, Harold, Ned and Ed Sutherland.
Junior is survived by his three daughters, Inga Hutson and husband, Bill, of Rio Rancho, NM, Sheen Crawford and husband, Lynn, of Knoxville, and Sheree Shell and husband, Dave, of Greeneville; two sons, Shane Sutherland and wife, Dawn, of Falcon, CO, and Bo Sutherland, of Kingsport; ten grandchildren; four sisters, Deloris Browder, of Kingsport, Janice Sammons and husband, Paul, of Gray, Linda Horton and husband, Junior, of Kingsport, and Wanda Sutherland, of Kingsport; brother, Russell Sutherland and wife, June, of Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Greg Wallace officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Shane Sutherland, Bo Sutherland, Justin Sutherland, Will Hutson, Jacob Crawford and Landon Sutherland.
