Claude Lee Cuthbertson, ROAN MOUNTAIN

Claude Lee Cuthbertson, age 60, of 282 Shell Creek Road, Roan Mountain, TN, woke up in the land of glory on Thursday, February 27, 2014.
He was born on August 9, 1953, in Avery County, NC. He is preceded in death by both his parents, Claude Cuthbertson and Edna Trice Cuthbertson, of Avery County, NC.
Claude received his diploma in nursing at Mayland Community College in 1983 and attended Catawba Community College and received his Associate’s in Nursing Degree in 1984. He worked numerous places as a Registered Nurse and a true whistling spirit when he was around.
He loved his job, Nursing was his God given talent. He received numerous accreditations and outstanding performances throughout his career. After 30 plus years as a Registered Nurse, he finally gave it up to enjoy home-life.
Claude was a 100% Mopar lover. He also loved horses and his best buddy, Charlie Brown, who was always on his knee.
He was married to Aleshia Shell Cuthbertson, his sunshine, as he called her. He also left behind two biological children, Patrick Cuthbertson, of Nashville, TN, and Rhiannon Cuthbertson, of Crossnore, NC; and two children he adopted, Zachary Lee Shell and Gracie Beth Cuthbertson, of the home; one granddaughter, Marley Cuthbertson; his brother, Steve, and sister-in-law, Kim Cuthbertson, of Newland, NC; sisters, Sarah and husband, Jim Davis, of Silva, NC, and Estelle Cuthbertson, of Banner Elk, NC.
He had a huge passion for Top Fuel Dragsters and actually owned a dragster and raced for several years.
Claude gave his life to the Lord numerous years ago. His legacy will never die, so for now, Go Rest High on That Mountain, until we meet again.
A memorial service to celebrate Claude’s life will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Hanson and the staff at Johnson City Internal Medicine for all the love and care shown to Claude and his family.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Speedway Children’s Charity, which Claude and Steve were a part of every year.
