Monty Vess, UNICOI

Monty Vess, 62, of Unicoi, Tennessee, passed away February 6, 2014, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Monty was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and was the son of the late William Newt and Kathryn Vess, of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Monty was a graduate of ETSU and the Surgeon Assistant Program from the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
He recently retired from Blue Ridge Neuro Science Center, Kingsport, Tennessee.
Monty was a longtime member of Cornerstone Church of Johnson City, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by: brother-in-law, Ricky Rogers.
Survivors include: Loving wife of 39 years, Debbie Rogers Vess; two daughters, Stacie Graham and husband, Graham, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Julie Davis and husband, Will, of Unicoi, Tennessee; grandchildren, Shawn, Noah, Payton and Presley; brother, Mark (Cathleen) Vess, of Roan Mt., Tennessee; niece, Mollie Vess, of Roan Mt., Tennessee; and nephew, Clayton Vess, of Roan Mt., Tennessee.
There will be a Memorial Service for Monty Vess Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Church in Johnson City, Tennessee. Dr. Barry Burns and Pastor Ann Burns will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cornerstone Church of Johnson City, Tennessee, or the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
