Hattie L. Wilson, ELIZABETHTON

Hattie L. Wilson, age 89, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Carter County to the late John and Connie Wilson Markland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Clarence Edward Wilson, Sr., on November 25, 2002; two brothers, Carl Markland and Clarence “Johnny Jack” Markland; one sister, Mary Ruth Markland; and three grandchildren, Julie Wilson, Eddie Wilson and Kathy Baumgardner.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a member of Old Horseshoe Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to cook large meals and have all the family together. She enjoyed quilting, she quilted all kinds of patterns and also those she designed. She liked word search, riding and enjoying scenery, playing “Trouble Game” with her grandchildren, planting and working in the garden, canning food from the garden, making homemade apple butter, jams, chow-chow, pies (especially apple), singing in church with her husband, Clarence and her son, David. She had a big laugh that would make everyone laugh with her.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances Lambert and husband Ben, Charlotte Faye Jenkins, and Norma Jean Baumgardner and husband Clarence “Bud”; four sons, Carl Eugene Wilson and wife Emma “Peanut”, Leonard “Roy” Wilson and wife Carmetta, Clarence Edward “Junior” Wilson and wife Kathy, and David Lee Wilson; fifteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Markland and wife Charlotte, and Kenneth Markland and wife Donna; one sister, Ruby Bice; and one sister-in-law, Betty Markland. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests the comfort and honor of your presence at the Celebration of the Life service for Mrs. Hattie L. Wilson on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the Riverside Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Ron Owens, officiating. Music will be under the direction of her nephew, Ray Don Markland. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday; or at the residence of a son, Clarence “Junior” Wilson, 1204 Erie Lane, Elizabethton, at anytime.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery, with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be family members, friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM, to go in procession.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Connie Jenkins, Shirley Presnell, the Staff of Sycamore Shoals and ICU Nurse, Barbara Nave, and to Clarence “Bud” Baumgardner.
