Marjorie Jean Pearce, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at her home in Johnson City.
She was born on December 10, 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Grim and Lena Taylor. She married the love of her life, Charles Pearce in 1946. Together they raised their six children in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, before moving to Johnson City in 1969. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women, the Christian Soldiers Sunday School Class, and the choir.
Mrs. Pearce is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Laura Pearce, Mt. Gilead, OH, and Larry and Jane Pearce, of Surgoinsville, TN; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and John Menger, Columbia, SC, Deb and Dennis Renner, of Rogersville, TN, Lori and Ted White, Johnson City, and Suzanne Strother, Irmo, SC; sister, Patricia Ray, Indianapolis, IN; three brothers-in-law, John Pearce, Mt. Gilead, OH, Lloyd Pearce, Victorville, CA, and Harry Andrews, Waverly, OH; sister-in-law, Shirley Wilson, Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Allison, Joe, Brad, Ryan, Alysha, Adam, and Andy; six great grandchildren, Audrey, Ava, Jackson, Carson, Jeffrey, and Thomas; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pearce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pearce; three brothers, Oren, Gene, and Bob Taylor, all of Indiana; four sisters, Kate, Dolly, Vera, and Wilma also of Indiana.
The funeral service for Mrs. Pearce will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2013 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor Lon Tobin and Pastor Jerry Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:45 A.M. Tuesday, January 14 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons and nephews.
