Madge Campbell, ERWIN

Mrs. Madge Duncan Campbell, age 97, 202 Cross Street, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014, in Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born September 9, 1916 in Bee Log (Yancey County), North Carolina, a daughter of the late Molt and Augusta Garland Duncan. Mrs. Campbell was a lifelong devoted member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully her entire life. Mrs. Campbell was a former artisan with Blue Ridge Pottery and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, L.D. Campbell, who passed away in 2002; three brothers: Clarence Duncan, Edwin Duncan and Garland Duncan; three sisters: Adeline Bryant, Alma Adkins and Bettye Duncan.
She is survived by a son, David E. Campbell and wife, Amy, Knoxville; two granddaughters: Sarah K. Campbell, Newnan, Georgia and Jennifer L. Campbell, Nashville; a sister, Lois Hampton, Johnson City; a sister-in-law, Lona Duncan, Cleveland, Tennessee. Several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and Hospice staff at Johnson City Medical Center for all their love and care for Mrs. Campbell. A special thank you to her many friends and loved ones who have looked after her in so many ways.
Funeral service for Mrs. Campbell will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate. Special piano music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum chapel. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, 110 Harris Street, Erwin, Tennessee 37650.
