Edward Friesland, JOHNSON CITY

Edward Paul Friesland passed away at his residence after a long illness on January 9, 2014.
He would have been 83 on February 1. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Flora Payne Friesland; brothers, Fred, Ira, Charles Jr. and J.B.; sisters, Faye Dutton, Margie Bortner, Jean Kerr and Joann Snodgrass.
Edward served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Johnson City Police Department after twenty five years of service. Edward was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was a thirty second degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite and Eastern Star. He belonged to the Rhea Lodge #47 in Jonesborough, Tennessee, where he and his wife were active until his illness. Edward was member of Central Christian Church in Jonesborough.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of sixty two years, Eula Murphy Friesland; daughters, Carol Colvin and husband, Darryl, Delena Fitzgerald and husband, Mark; sons, Wayne Friesland and wife, Doris, and Lynn Friesland; five grandchildren, Candice Colvin, Cristin Colvin-James and husband, Daniel, Crystal Friesland Blackburn and husband, Bryan, Michael Friesland and wife, Heather, and Evan Fitzgerald; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Brianna Blackburn; and a sister Virginia Greene.
The family wishes to thank the “angels” who cared so lovingly for their father during his illness. Thank you Melly, Chaplain Dwayne, Sherrie, and William. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Alan Colyar and the staff at Pinnacle Family Medicine for all the years of caring for Edward.
The family requests the honor of your presence at A Celebration of Life service for Edward Friesland on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 7:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services. The family will greet friends to share memories from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Pastor Tony Thompson will be officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 1:45 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Anyone wishing to follow in procession is asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00PM. Pallbearers will be Mark Sirious, John Lowery, Bob Tallman, Larry Williams, Jack Shipley and Ed Graybeal.
