William Bailey, JONESBOROUGH

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
William Winfred Bailey, age 88, of Jonesborough, died Jan. 2, 2014, at Four Oaks Health Care Center.
He was born in Madison, N.C., and was a son of Arcemus and Mamie Edwards Bailey. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harvey Bailey, Vestal Bailey and Fred Bailey; 5 sisters, Ana Mae Hensley, Bethel Arrowood, Anza Hall, Mary Jane Crane and an infant sister; A grandson: David Paul Phillips.
He proudly served in WWII. Mr. Bailey retired from Ball Zinc Company.
He was a member of Limestone F.W.B. Church, where he had attended while his health permitted; and he was a Sunday school teacher.
He loved farming and gardening and his family and friends and enjoyed Gospel Music and Baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by: 2 daughters, Judy Fritts and husband, Paul, and Patti Phillips and husband, Charlie; and 2 sons: David Bailey and Randy Bailey and wife, Lisa; Grandchildren: Steve and Scarlett Fritts, Brian and Melissa Fritts, Patrick Phillips, Wayne and Johnathon Bailey; and step granddaughter, Sunnie Shelton; Great grandchildren: Matthew, Jeremiah, and Emily Fritts and Levee and Shealynn Shelton; 1 sister, Arlene Mitchell, of Bowmantown; and several nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Free Will Baptist Church. Greene County Honor Guard will convey Military honors at the church cemetery. Rev. Tim Broyles, Rev. Tim Roach and Rev. Alfred Cutshall will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Steve Fritts, Brian Fritts, Patrick Phillips, Wayne Bailey, Gay Crane, Marion Lee Bailey. Honorary pallbearer will be: Johnathon Bailey.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at Limestone Free Will Baptist Church.
