Dorothy Leonard Cannon, JOHNSON CITY

Dorothy Leonard Cannon, age 104, of Johnson City, TN, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Christian Care Center, where she resided since 2008.
She was a lifelong resident of Johnson City and the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Nancy Lewis Leonard. Mrs. Cannon retired from King’s Department Store and was a former employee of Leon Fernbach. She was a charter member of Clark Street Baptist Church, Johnson City.
Mrs. Cannon was also a talented seamstress, cook, and her love for family was evident in all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Cannon Sr.; infant daughter, Anna Lee Cannon, sons, Joe Cannon and Roy L. Cannon Jr. (R.L.); and granddaughter, Teresa “Lynn” Cannon, as well as three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Andy Southerland, son and daughter-in-law, David and Jean Cannon, all of Johnson City; Grandchildren: Mike Cannon & wife, Vicki, Christy Green & husband, Dan, and Roger Southerland, all of Johnson City, Joy Humphries, Jonesborough, Jan Fergerson, Apopka, FL., Mark Cannon & wife, Robin, and Josie Giles, all of Atlanta, Ga.; Great-grandchildren: Matthew Cannon, Madison Cannon, April Estes & husband, John, Dylan Green, Jennifer Norris & husband, Chuck, Lindsay Potter and husband, Eric, and Andy Southerland, all of Johnson City, Jamie Euratte & husband, Gabe, Preston Humphries & wife, Stacie, all of Atlanta, GA., Laura Garner & husband, Justin, Huntersville, NC, and Beth Fergerson, of Apopka, FL; Great-great grandchildren: Alex Estes, Lincoln Estes, Nan Estes, Griffin Euratte, Macie Euratte, McKinley Norris, Bronson Norris and Eric Potter.
The graveside funeral service for Mrs. Cannon will be conducted Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 3 PM in Monte Vista Memorial Park with the Rev. Lon Tobin officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be selected from family members.
