Mildred Tapp, HENDERSONVILLE

Mildred Congdon Tapp, age 92, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013.
Born April 9, 1921 in Erwin, TN, she was the oldest daughter in a family of eight children born to Raymond and Lucy Erwin of Erwin, TN.
After graduating from Unicoi County High School she worked at Blue Ridge Potteries as a pottery artist. Her love of art and painting was a lifelong love. She later worked as Office Manager for Doctors Monroe, Dees, and Hyder of Erwin until her retirement.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, and the father of her children, Frederick H. Congdon; her husband of eight years Clarence E. Tapp, and three brothers Bill, Gene, and Herald Erwin.
Her surviving family members are a daughter Constance C. Hoxton and husband Archibald R. Hoxton, III, Shepherdstown, WV; and a son Frederick E. Congdon and wife Mary E. Congdon of Gallatin, TN; four grandsons Rob and Clay Hoxton, their wives Mary Logan and Kim; Ehren and Emil Congdon, their wives Caitlin and Leslie; and ten great grandchildren, “the Joy of Her Life.” She is also survived by a brother, Charles Erwin and two sisters Eunice Morris and Louis Auman.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family of Mildred Congdon Tapp will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until 11:00 AM at Centenary United Methodist Church, 203 N Elm Ave., Erwin, TN 37650 on Friday, December 27, 2013.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at a funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at Centenary United Methodist Church. Reverend Robert Layell and Dr. Timothy Auman, Chaplain of Wake Forest University will officiate. A graveside service will be held following the service on Friday at Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church, 203 N. Elm Ave., Erwin, TN 37650 or to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
