Genevieve "Genny" Bashor, JOHNSON CITY

Genevieve “Genny” Bashor was called home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2013, in Johnson City.
Born Genevieve Adams on January 23, 1922, she was 91 years old.
Genevieve was a retiree from the Canteen at the VA Center. She loved to cook and worked in food services for many years. She has been a dedicated volunteer at the VA, assisting in BINGO and other activities for the veterans.
Genevieve was President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Post 2108 for many years. She enjoyed planning for events and holidays celebrated at the VFW.
She was a big supporter of cancer. She donated many locks of hair that she had collected for cancer survivors for many years. Genevieve was always trying to raise money for cancer awareness.
Most of all, she enjoyed serving people. She loved to help others, and do whatever she could to support the community.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Anderson Bashor; son, Randall Keith Bashor; and brothers, George, Buster and A.D Adams.
Survivors include a son, Steve Bashor and wife, Jean, Jonesborough; daughter-in-law, Mary Bashor, Johnson City; grandchildren, Stephen, Stephanie and Jonathan, all of Johnson City, Tori, of Spartanburg, SC; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Delcour, Knoxville, Velvia Liafsha, Oak Ridge, Ruth “Bootie” Street, Johnson City, Theresa Davis, Johnson City; brothers, Billy Adams and Gary Adams, both of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Thursday, December 12, at 2:30 P.M. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Gene Deaton officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home.
