Nancy P. Powell, “Nana,” 60, Jonesborough, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, December 4, 2013, while at home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Dorothy (Privette) Henley; brother, Raymond Henley; father-in-law, Charles Powell; and special brother-in-law, Tommy Garst.
She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Robert Powell, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, David and Becky (Livesay) Smith, Kyles Ford; daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Timmy Price, Jonesborough; grandchildren, whom she always called her little angels, Timmy, Logan and Ariel Price, Jonesborough, Ashley and Matthew Smith, Kyles Ford; brother and sisters, whom she loved dearly, Richard and Mabel Henley, Lois “Sissy” and Dennis Garst, Viola and Richard McKinney, Loretta “Penny” Garst, Rita “Ree” and Johnny Smith, all of Jonesborough; sister-in-law, Robin and Mike Kieth, Kingsport; special mother-in-law, Martha Desormeaux, Johnson City; special friends, Don and Bonnie McCloud, Stoney Creek; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Jeff Hopland and Dr. Jeff Farrow for the years of care and comforting.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 4:00 PM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Michael D. Stover officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 2:00-4:00 PM in the East Parlor of the funeral home and other times at the home of a sister Rita and Johnny Smith, 868 Highway 81 N., Jonesborough.
The entombment service will be held Sunday, December 8, 2013, at 1:00 PM in the mausoleum chapel of Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those planning to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home by 12:40PM Sunday to proceed to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Henley, Randy Henley, Rex Henley, Allen Smith, Adam Smith, Eddie Garst, Martin Garst and Wade McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be “Lil” Timmy Price, Don McCloud, Mike Kieth, Brian McKinney, Bronson Netherly, Johnny Hyatt, Gary Hyatt, Robert Henry and Paul Desormeaux.
