James "Jim" Buchanan, MARYVILLE

James L. “Jim” Buchanan, age 92, Shannondale of Maryville, TN, formerly of 510 New Ave., Erwin, passed away on November 25, 2013.
Jim was a native of Blissfield, MI, and a son of the late John and Minnie Bode Buchanan. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Jim was a Diesel Shop Supervisor with CRR/CSX Railroad.
Mr. Buchanan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Regular Fellows Sunday School Class. He was a Mason.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Mauk Buchanan, on October 22, 2002; and his brothers, Arthur Buchanan and Louie Buchanan.
James L. “Jim” Buchanan has left to cherish his memories: Sons: John Buchanan and wife, Terry, of Greenback, TN, Mark Buchanan and wife, Peggy, of Louisville, TN; Daughter: JoAnn Simpson and husband, Lenny, of Wilmington, NC; 7 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at a funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of James L. “Jim” Buchanan on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend David Crutchfield will officiate.
Committal services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Unicoi County High School Jr. ROTC. Serving as active pallbearers will be the Unicoi County High School Jr. ROTC members. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Regular Fellows Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until service time on Saturday at Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 540 Adams Street, Erwin, TN 37650; or to the Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
