Mary Butler, JONESBOROUGH

Mary Evelyn Chesser Butler, 74, Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at NHC Healthcare, Johnson City.
A native of Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Montie and Verna Mae Sheets Chesser.
Mary was of the Freewill Baptist faith. She worked various jobs in housekeeping at local nursing homes and hospitals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Odis Lee Benfield in 1981 and her second husband George Butler Jr., in 2008, two brothers Henry Alfred Chesser and Roger Harold Chesser and a sister Eula Jean Chesser.
Survivors include five sons, Montie Earl Chesser and wife Cindy of Elizabethton, Robert Dean Benfield and wife Debbie of Elizabethton, Odis Dale Benfield of Jonesborough, David Allen Benfield and girlfriend Anna Curtis of Jonesborough and Danny Ray Benfield and girlfriend Kim Miller of Jonesborough; three daughters, Wilma Cloyd and husband Midget of Telford, Connie Henry of Johnson City and Rose Marie Sparks and husband Terry of Jonesborough; grandchildren, Ronnie Cloyd, Amanda Chesser, Midge Silvers, Alice Johnson, Terry Sparks Jr., Jordan Henry, Justin Benfield, Michelle Benfield, Kim Benfield, Kathy McMaster, Jodi Pierce, Tabitha Henry, Brandon Curtis, Amanda Curtis, Jason Miller, Randall Miller, Amy Miller, and Matthew Miller; great-grandchildren, Seaira Cloyd, Cicada Silvers, Troy Johnson, Allie Sparks, Cassandra Benfield, Maci Benfield, Shane Benfield, Issac Pierce, Jasmina Pomeroy, Rylee Curtis, Caden Curtis, Madisen Curtis and Mykinzie Curtis; three sisters, Wanda Louise Blevins of Elizabethton, Eunice Dean Hicks of Jonesborough and Peggy Louella Hicks of Jonesborough; one brother, Montie Delaney Chesser and wife Joyce of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 8:00PM at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00PM until the service hour.
A Graveside Service will be held at Keplinger Cemetery, Jonesborough on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1:00PM. Those wishing to follow in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15PM. Grandsons and Matthew Miller and Brandon Curtis will serve as pallbearers.
