Carlos Calvin Whaley, GREENEVILLE

Carlos Whaley, 71, of Greeneville, Tn passed away November 12, 2013 in his home following a courageous 14 month battle with esophageal cancer.
Carlos is survived by his wife Connie Burnett Whaley, his children Angela Mills Chapman and husband Ben, Carlos C. Whaley Jr. and wife Kristi, Steven F. Whaley, Karese W. Faircloth and husband Tifton, April W. Reed and husband Lynn, Landon D. Whaley and James P. Whaley; his grandchildren Victoria Payne and husband Carlton, Andrew Whaley, Joseph Whaley, Claire Whaley, Mikaela Gasso, Brandon Reed, Alexa Reed and Chloe Whaley and his siblings Geneva Whaley, June King, Lena Ensor, David Whaley and Lewis Whaley. Carlos also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Carlos was predeceased by his parents Paul and Lou Elswick Whaley and a brother Paul Whaley Jr.
Carlos was a retired Executive Vice President of First Colony Life Insurance and G.E. Capital in Lynchburg, Va. He was also an avid historian, outdoorsman, living history portrayer and farmer.
Carlos served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 until 1965, completing his service at the rank of Corporal.
A celebration of Carlos’ extraordinary life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Main Street in Greeneville, Tn. on Saturday, Nov. 23rd. A reception with friends and family will follow the service.

The family is in the care of the Cremation Society of Northeast Tennessee.
