Arlene Serviente, JONESBOROUGH

Arlene Serviente, 78, Jonesborough, entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Arlene was a native of Berwyn, IL, lived in Bedford and Waco, Texas, for over 25 years and retired in Jonesborough the past eight years. She was the daughter of the late Bartlett and Gertrude Henderson.
Arlene was employed as a secretary for the VA and several insurance companies for over 25 years. She was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was the inspiration for the “Gadabouts” senior citizens group.
She also volunteered at the Johnson City Senior Center, and was a long-time member of the Silver Sneakers group at Lifestyle Fitness Center. She was a 25-year cancer survivor and volunteered in Waco, Texas, in their “Reach for Recovery” program with the American Cancer Society.
Arlene was a social, fun-loving, athletic person who loved golf, bowling, travel and theater. She also enjoyed reading and the piano, but the joy of her life was spending time with her family.
Arlene leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Mike Serviente; two sons, Mike Serviente, Jonesborough, and Glenn Serviente, Hurst, TX; one daughter, Sherry McCormick and husband, Dale, Johnson City; grandchildren, Ashley and Cain McWalters, Maddie and Drew Serviente; and great grandson, Owen McWalters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
