James "Bud" Baskette, MARIETTA, Ga.

James “Bud” Baskette, age 78, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Greene County, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.
Mr. Baskette retired after 23 years in the U.S. Air Force and after working 15 years as a postal worker in Marietta, GA.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: wife: Donna Baskette; daughter: Nikki Baskette and fiancé, Garth Jennings, of Hutto, TX; a son: Jim Baskette, of Pensacola, FL; one brother and sister-in-law: John and Rosie Baskette, of Petaluma, CA; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Charlotte Austin Isaacs, of Kingsport, Darlyne Lewis, of Greeneville, Edythe and Maynard Emmette, of Chuckey; a special brother-in-law and “best buddy”: Carl Gentry, of Limestone; fourteen nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews.
He was the son of the late James Henry and Maxy Baskette and was preceded in death by three sisters: Geneva Harville, Helen Droke, Joyce Gentry; one brother: W.C. Baskette; a nephew: Steve Gentry.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. The Rev. Gary Gentry will officiate.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Blue Emmette, John Baskette, Mark Collier, Isaac Morgan, Jennifer Hensley, Kathy Baskette, Brad Gentry and Mike Seaton III. Honorary pallbearers will be: Johnny Emmette, Joe Emmette, David Emmette, Michael Emmette, Marilyn Preston, Barbara Morgan, Brenda Seaton and Missy Utley.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
