Irene Harrell, JOHNSON CITY

Irene Virginia Ledford Harrell, 89, Johnson City passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Johnson City.
A native of Johnson City, she was the daughter of the late Green Berry and Mattie Hurt Ledford. Mrs. Harrell was a member of the Church of the Brethren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Irene enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie (J.B) Harrell, a grandson, Christopher Whitaker, two brothers and one sister.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Gloria Whitaker and husband Alan of Johnson City, Dot Cash and husband Denny of Johnson City; granddaughters, Lorie Street and husband Jeff of Johnson City, Angie Clabough and husband John of Gray, Robin Cross and husband Alan of Inman, SC; a grandson, Mark Whitaker of Johnson City; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a sister, Ruth Stoots of Johnson City; a brother, Roy Lee Ledford of Baltimore, MD; two very special nieces, Terry Beckman and Tyonnia Triplett both of Johnson City.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. Dr. Tim Wallingford, Minister will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the service hour. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Johnson City. Those wishing to follow in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Will Clabough, Carson Weeks, Dustin Brady, Nathan West, Kent Malone, Dave Beckman and Ricky Stoots. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Willis and Barry Triplett.
A special thank you is extended to granddaughters Lorie and Angie and son-in-law Denny for their compassionate loving care of Irene.
