Bonnie Kate Rush, age 90 of Jonesborough, passed away early Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at JCMCH.
She was a daughter of the late Hurley Robert and Bertha Cox Ford.
Bonnie enjoyed her gardening, quilting and taking care of her family. She was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church and the Jonesborough Senior Citizens Center where she volunteered working at the Nursing Homes. She previously had worked in the food service department with the Washington County Schools.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Rush; sisters, Louise Price and Nancy Marie Ford; brothers, Bob Ford, Howard Ford, Onnie “Gil” Ford, J.B. Ford and Vernon Ford.
Mrs. Rush is survived by sons, Charles Robert (Theresa) Rush of Gray, Billy D. (Betty) Rush of Gray, James David Rush of Jonesborough; sisters, Olivene Elizabeth Thornburg of Jonesborough, Ruth (L.D.) Roark of Johnson City; brothers, Ernest (Nellie) Ford of Jonesborough and Billy Joe Ford of Jonesborough; grandchildren, Melissa Marvel, Carmela Clawson, Charlla Williams, Terri Dugger, Tina Campbell, Betsy Hartman, William Rush, Eric Rush, Cody Rush and Austin Rush; several nieces, nephews and cousins; twelve great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. in the Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church and anytime at the home of her son, David Rush.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Jody Jenkins and Dr. Gene Lasley officiating. Gary Seaman will be providing music.
Graveside services will be Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Marvel, Adam Williams, Ray Price, William Rush, Cody Rush and Austin Rush.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of (4200 stroke unit) JCMCH and Dr. Rakish Patel of ETSU Internal Medicine, Dallas Taylor, and Mrs. Jean Haynes.
