Wilma W. Chandley, JONESBOROUGH

Ms. Wilma W. Chandley, age 73, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29th, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Ms. Chandley was a native of Greene County and daughter of the late Buffard George & Mary Louise Moore Williams. In addition to her parents, a son, John Chandley, also preceded Ms. Chandley in death.
She was a member of Jonesborough Presbyterian Church.
Ms. Chandley received her bachelor’s and master’s in Social Work from East Tennessee State University and worked for many years as a social worker in Northeast Tennessee. She was a member of the International Honor Society in Social Sciences, Pi Gamma Mu.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Chandley and Matthew Chandley; sisters Joyce Newell, Florida, Donna Sparkman, Nashville and Janet Browning, Jonesborough; grandchildren Zach Chandley (Madison) and Sydney Chandley; great-grandchildren Owen Chandley and Emmarie Chandley; and a special great-niece, Elyse Weir.
A memorial service will be held at Jonesborough Presbyterian Church this Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 11 am with receiving of friends at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Wilma Chandley Senior Center Activity Room Fund to purchase new equipment and furnishings for the exercise/dancing area in the new Jonesborough Senior Center. Any checks should be written to the Jonesborough Senior Center in remembrance of Wilma Chandley, and contributions sent to the senior center at 1521 Persimmon Ridge Rd. or Town Hall 123 Boone St., Jonesborough, 37659.
