Edith B. Koester, GRAY

Edith Eleanore Bohde Koester passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at Lakebridge Healthcare Center with her daughter at her side.
Edith was born to the late William Henry Bohde and Elsa Bohde on December 9, 1924 in Bronx, NY. She spent her early years in the Bronx, and moved to Rutherford, NJ in 1935 where she graduated from Rutherford High School in 1942. Edith married Arthur Koester in October 1948 and they moved to Clifton, NJ in 1954.
She was an active member of the Allwood Community Church and past Worthy Matron of Clifton Peace Chapter OES. The Koester’s lived in Broken Arrow. OK for 9 years before moving to Gray, TN in 1991. She was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Nolichucky Chapter of OES and member of Rebekah Circle at Colonial Heights Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by husband of 63 years, Arthur and brother, William H. Bohde, Jr.
She is survived by daughter, Eleanor Masters of Fall Branch, TN; son, David A. Koester of Ester, Alaska; grandsons, David Hobbs & Heather Phelps of Smyrna, GA, Christopher Hobbs and wife, Lindsey of Ardmore, OK and Timothy Hobbs and wife, Rachel of Gray, TN; great-grandchildren, Katelyn & Parker Hobbs of Gray, TN and Rece & Brooks Hobbs of Ardmore, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Rachel Monderer, the staff of 6300 & 7500 at JCMC and the very special staff of Lakebridge Healthcare Center.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 5825 Fort Henry Dr, Kingsport, TN. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. Reverend Chuck Echols will officiate.
Edith will be interred at Mountain Home National Cemetery along side her husband on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings in memory of Edith can be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church.
