Martha Mae Cox, GRAY

Martha Mae Cox, 90, went home to be with her Lord on October 6, 2013.
She went peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant battle with Melanoma Cancer and Alzheimer’s. She was the matriarch of the family who was strong-willed, independent, energetic and full of love, faith and grace. She always had something nice to say about people.
Martha was the daughter of the late Billy and Ellen Salyers. Born in Nickelsville, VA, she was a native of Big Moccasin, but had lived in the Boones Creek Area since 1966.
Martha was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star, Washington Chapter 57.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Onnie N. Cox; brothers, Tom, Cleveland, Emmett and WD; sisters, Heddie, Maggie and Addie.
Survivors include son, Gerald Cox & wife, Barbara; daughter, Peggy & husband, Mark Greene; grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley Brooke & Bradley Cox and Monica Greene; sister, Ruby Meade; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Snyder’s Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Vic Wallace officiating. Graveside services will be at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN, on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Westmoreland, Gene Self, Doug Salyers, Gary Meade, Bradley Cox and Brandon Cox.
The family wants to give special thanks to caregivers, Amber Gray and Jamie McNutt, as well as Caris Hospice.
