James Clarence Murray Jr., JOHNSON CITY

James Clarence Murray, Jr., 1313 E. Watauga Avenue, entered into rest early Sunday morning, October 6, 2013 at the home. James was a graduate of Langston High School, where he was a member of the Hi-Y Club and played on the Langston Tigers’ basketball team. He was employed at Empire Furniture and Tennessee Eastman Company, and was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN.
Affectionately known as “Uncle Dad,” James will be remembered for his witty anecdotes, humorous, unique, original quotes, matter-of-fact conversations, and love for family and friends. He was especially fond of the Meals-on Wheels organization.
James was preceded in death by parents James C. Murray, Sr., G. Elnora Brady, and Rev. G. Walter Brady; Brothers Charles W. and Leroy B. Brady; and sister Mary L. Brady Sessions.
James leaves to cherish his memories three sons: Phillip Lee Taylor, James Robert (Jen), and Benjamin Walter Taylor Murray, all of Johnson City; daughter Charmaine Daniels; brothers Tony (Sheila),Keith (Cynthia) Brady, and Don Brady, all of Johnson City; sisters: Adrienne Murray (William) Tarter, Kingsport, and Carole C. Brady, Antioch, TN; granddaughters Amelia Taylor, Abigail Murray, and Carmella Baxter; grandson Triston Daniels; former wife Glenda Murray, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday October 9th at the Birchette Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends at 12:00pm at the Chapel.
