Mauveline Hayes Jeffers, JONESBOROUGH

Mauveline Hayes Jeffers, 100, Bowmantown, died at Johnson City Medical Center on Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
She was employed at Park Belks, involved with PTA at Northside and served as officer, Member of United Church Women of Johnson City. Conference President of United Church Women of EUB Church — visited each church all over Tennessee once a year. Involved with Girl Scouts and Red Cross, Otterbein UMW. She served 2 terms as President for SSUMW. Taught Sunday School at Otterbein for 28 years. Also taught Sunday School at Meadowview. Was the organist for Otterbien, Sand Branch, Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon and Sulphur Springs, where she was a member. Sulphur Springs Extension Club. She delivered Meals on Wheels. She served as Washington County news correspondent for Greeneville Sun for numerous years.
She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jeffers was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. E.B. Jeffers; Daughter, Elaine Rose; Parents, Oscar and Emma Doty Hayes; 3 brothers: William Hayes, John Robert Hayes and Charles Haven Hayes.
Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law, Lendell and Peggy Jeffers, of Bowmantown; 2 daughters: Betty Jo Mahoney, of Johnson City, and Pat & John Morley, of Rogersville; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great granddaughters. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2013, from 2-5 p.m. at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church in Washington Co.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Sulphur Springs U.M.C.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday October 7, 2013, at Monte Vista Cemetery with Rev. Laura Jo Crawford, Rev. Dwight Kenney and Rev. Ronald Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Sandy Mahoney, Brian Mahoney, Mark Morley, Len Jeffers, Ralph Jeffers, Billy Rose, Jeff Mahoney and Joe Mahoney. Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Rose, David Rose, Sharon Browder, Tricia Gray and Maura Barnett.
